Neat and Clean and Just Not Right

For a month now I’ve passed by My Dude’s bedroom and it is just as neat and tidy as the day after he and Dr. Kyle left for California to enjoy our summer home. And it’s just not right. His bed is perfectly made, mitered corners and all. All his pens and pencils are neatly tucked into his pencil cup, almost as if they are being held captive. A stack of notebook paper sits idly in the middle of the desk, blank and begging for doodles and designs of his next great invention. It seems sterile, not having been used to think, create, dream.

Don’t get me wrong, I love for things to be orderly, but passing by his room reminds me that things are not as they should be. Our world is a bit out of order. Blondie and I have had a great time over the last few weeks and have made some really sweet memories along the way, but we are ready for our boys to be home. We have been ready for some time now, and thank goodness they are on their way.

mydude1He’s been refining his photography skills in one of the most beautiful places I’ve been.

mydude3Just look at this fantastic shot he got of a mama dolphin and her calf. Well done, Dude!

mydude2He’s been exploring, learning, and loving the beach. That’s my boy!

mydude4mydude6And just as Blondie and I have had some sweet mama/daughter time, the boys have had great fun being together in Malibu. So, his room would have be believe that he has been stationary. Stagnant. But I know better. And now it is time to come home and mess things up a bit. And hug your mama. A lot.

And a big thank you to Nil Santana for those last two shots of my boys. Thanks, Nil!
